Initial Cleaning
We got in fast with high-pressure water jets to clear the debris and tree roots out of the pipe, clearing the way for the drain relining that came next.
Effective Drain Relining
Once the pipe was clear, we relined it using trenchless technology. We inserted a resin-impregnated liner into the existing pipe and cured it in place, creating a new, durable lining inside the old one and extending its life, without any digging.
Restoration and Final Checks
The relining fully restored the drain. We checked everything over to make sure it was running smoothly, and left the homeowner with a drain that worked like new. They were really happy with how quickly it was all sorted.
How Keogh Plumbing Got the Job Done
The job was managed by Sam and Mark, two of our experienced plumbers.
- Inspection and Planning: We used a drain camera to inspect the sewer line and confirm the location and extent of the damage. A 2-metre section of the 100mm-diameter pipe needed repair.
- Access Setup: We set up two access points, one upstream and one downstream of the damaged section, so we could carry out the relining without disturbing the footpath or surrounding areas.
- Pipe Relining: We inserted a flexible PVC liner into the existing pipe using the drag-in/pull-in-place method. Once it was in position, we cured it in place, creating a single, joint-free pipe inside the old one.
- Connections and Testing: We connected the new pipe to the existing PVC system, made sure the seal was watertight, and tested the whole system to confirm it was working properly.
Why No-Dig Made Sense Here
With tree roots the original cause of the blockage, and the drain running under an established garden, digging it up would have meant undoing years of landscaping to fix a problem that was really just inside the pipe. Relining let us fix the damage from the inside, in a fraction of the time, without touching the garden above it.
